A Better Return for Sports
The NBA has restarted from COVID-19 July 30th and their message from commissioner Adam Silver could not be any stronger. This restart is now taking place in Florida at Walt Disney World and all of the staff and players have been isolated to finish the season in the upcoming months. The NBA has taken matters into their own hands showing "Black Lives Matter" and allowing players to have short messages with their names on their jerseys. This is even bigger because player such as Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis are allowed to have their short messages in their language. This brings awareness not only to the United States, but worldwide. The NBA is watched globally so this brings the message along while they wear their jerseys on their backs. They are showing the importance of tthe movements and message we want to share in a broader scope.
Players allowed to have messages such as: Say her name, Equality, Vote, Education Reform, Black Lives Matter, and many more allows viewers to make sure the players are being heard than just what social media is showing. We cannot stop now, the world needs to keep pushing for a stronger outcome and create change. In this article from the Undefeated it speaks on every player having a short message on their name and the players meaning for why they are wearing these messages on their backs.
The bubble sounded like a crazy idea to begin with while in quarantine, but with all of the precautions they have taken to ensure safety to the players has given us sports entertainment. In the Sportsnews article, they shared that they are doing many COVID-19 tests to the players and bringing in specific foods to the players. Once the playoffs start the players will be allowed four guests to watch them instead of the virtual fans that have been watching on the big screens. But as players come and go they are tested for COVID-19 and the tests happen routinely.
This is what the world needs to create awareness and making sure that we VOTE. We have already seen what someone can do to our country if we do not vote or make our voices heard. Please check us out https://action4oregon.weebly.com/ and VOTE so we can make our world a better place!
