Volunteering For Homeless

Volunteering at a Homeless Shelter
By Cameron Sheets

In 2015 as I was playing baseball at Mt. Hood Community College, our team and myself at the opportunity to spend a day feeding the homeless in Clackamas County, OR. We first started with introducing ourselves with the intent of sharing our stories while them sharing there's. It was important to know why they were there and everything they have gone though to get to that point.

We began serving them with tons of high quality foods like beans, meats, and foods with good carbs and overloaded energy sources. The smiles on their faces while they were served by us made it all worth it. These people have all not just been there by choice, but the only option. Getting to help these people made me a better person, and understanding there are people in need.

As you can see, many people are not choosing to be homeless. The #1 reason for homeless and food scarcity is loss of job. As a community, and team, we needed to be there for these individuals to help them with what was needed.
