Freeganism in Portland, a new way to get Free Food around the city

Freeganism, it first started out as a lash out to capitalism and now is a real source for getting food for your family for free. People are going to stores in the middle of the night to collect the daily throw outs of expired and returned products and produce. It is usually due to economical reasons that people choose to get their food this way but others do it to show how good food is going to waste everyday while millions starve in our own country. 

There is also a documentary shot in 2009 called "Meet the Freegans" that showcase this way of living.
