Lack of Funding, Lack of Options

Solutions to the problem of homelessness are as difficult to figure out as its causes. As the population of people experiencing homelessness increases, funding is remaining unchanged, or even decreasing in some cases. The Human Solutions Family Center, once attributed for helping to decrease the amount of homeless families on the streets in 2017, has become an unsustainable project. Allocation of resources can be a touchy subject, and what most of it comes down to is a person's willingness to give time or money (or both) to help with the problem.

All of this to say that there are no easy answers outside of a willingness to help. Due to such a large increase in people affected by homelessness in the last two years, many of the services that are offered for free are now going to be stretched even further. As public resources continue to dwindle in the face of growing need, personal generosity may be the next step while we advocate for continued funding of services to battle the problem of homelessness.
