Another Reason to Avoid "Industrial Food" and Cook at Home with Real Food
The Daily show does put a humorous spin on the news, but many times they can be spot on. When it comes to the weird ingredients and safety risk of eating processed industrial made foods, they really hit the nail on the head with this episode:
The Daily Show with John Stewart: February 20th, 2014 (Subway, kraft singles, hot pockets)
Hilarious, but scary and gross all at the same time. A lot of people eat Subway because they believe it is a healthier alternative to other fast food. The reality is that it's just as chemical laden as any other fast food. There is stuff in their bread that is used in making yoga mats. Um... gross!
With the way our food system is going, anybody who eats this type of "food," and I use that term loosely, is basically submitting themselves to be a guinea pig for long term health experiments. From heavy use of antibiotics in industrial raised meats, to scary concoctions added to food to give them certain properties, it's all down right scary. It's no wonder that some people are turning to the traditional foods of their ancestors and trying to keep their food natural, organic, and local. The more that industry tinkers with our food, the less real it becomes, and the more about profit.
