Five Challenges Homeless Women Face




  1. Women living with mental illness have much higher rates of going homeless than the general population. In America, about 75% of women experiencing homelessness tend to suffer from undisclosed mental illnesses. 
  2. Homeless women's access to menstruation products is often limited with the lack of resources or funds within shelters or other organizations. 
  3. Women who are mothers who are homelessness have to deal with the burden of childcare, separation often happens because they can not provide for their own children.
  4. 1 in 4 women considered domestic violence to be the main factor as the reason for being homeless.
  5. Homeless women often are vulnerable to violence and sexual assault due to the lack of resources for safety.
