Voting Online in 2020: Safest to Avoid COVID-19

With the rise of the CORVID-19 affecting the U.S. during voting and elections times, there may be fewer votes than “normal” because people are afraid of going outside. If you want to avoid the chances of being affected, consider this. Voting in person at the poll can cause a risk of spreading the virus because people are touching everything. Voting by mail can also cause a minor issue because a lot of people “lick” their envelope, which raises concerns as the virus continues to spread. Statistics are proven to show that older people tend to vote more than younger people. The virus is partially more harmful to the elderly too, and if we have them gather up at polls during a crisis like this, it could be a problem. But what if we can avoid all of this and still have access to vote?

Online Voting is a system that can be a solution to this problem. Voting online would allow people to not have to go outside and avoid contact with others. It increases the convenience of voting because online voting can literally be on our fingertips - by using a phone or tablet to access the internet and cast their votes. Online voting can also appeal to younger crowds to vote. By voting through this method, it eliminates the need for transportation and decreases wait time at polling locations. This can create a faster, easier, and more reliable system of voting and have a less “stressful” time with the outbreak of COVID-19.
