Reproductive Rights - Annelise Pixler

The reproductive rights of women, for some reason, are still being handled by men who have no idea what impact their decisions will have on women. A large section of the controversy surrounding women’s reproductive rights is abortion and the pro-life or pro-choice debate.
On statusofwomendata.org, they explain that reproductive rights are “having the ability to decide whether and when to have children” (2018) while also explaining that this decision to choose contributes to “women’s socioeconomic well-being and overall health”. Unfortunately, the status of female reproductive rights lay in the hands of anti-choice legislators who think they know what is right for every woman.
Whether or not you agree with abortion or birth control. I think it is important that every person makes a choice that is best suited for them and their lives. Some people may not be able to afford a child, might be in an abusive relationship, may have been sexually assaulted, yet still expect these women to birth a child. People should be able to make decisions based on their life and no one else should have the right to make that for them, especially when it comes to a lifelong commitment like a child. It is crucial at this time for people to stay informed on that changes are being made to laws that may impact your life.
