If you've stumbled across this blog searching for information on homeless than you have most likely have heard about Street newspapers such as Street Roots.

This movement start back in NYC back in 1989 and this type of newspaper has spread throughout many cities in this country as well as even other countries. The topic matter is mainly written by homeless people while the articles themselves are put together by professions who reformat them into a newspaper format.

The subject matter found in these newspapers is intended to focus on what it's lies to be homeless as well as different programs out there that support the homeless. A main controversy that has come up is exactly what type of content should be included  in order to stay true to the roots of the subject matter versus viewership.

Nonetheless the type of content, newspapers such as Street Roots provide a service for the homeless and gives them something to do that might help them get back on to their feet.
