Why Is Composting Important?

Composting is important because instead of creating trash
consisting of unwanted products, you can reuse them in an efficient way that is
beneficial to the environment. By composting, you also reduce the waste that is
usually directed into landfills. This waste produces concentrated and toxic leachates
and methane gas that harm the environment in multiple ways. By composting you are
reducing the number of harmful toxins being released into the environment.

Next time you are about to throw away your raked leaves or
potato skin, think about composting. This small everyday task can make a major
difference in the environment if a larger audience participated.
