Green Climate Fund Breakdown Contribution Per Person
President Trump announced on Thursday, June 1st, that the United States would withdraw from the Paris climate accord. He also said that the United States will no longer contribute to the Green Climate Fund. According to President Trump, this United Nations program would end up costing our country "a vast fortune".
In 2016, industrialized countries have voluntarily pledged a total amount of $66.8 billions. While the United States has pledged the most, $3 billions, we rank at 11th on a per capita basis. Each American will contribute $9.41 compare to $59.31 per person from Sweden.
With President Trump decision to stop funding for this program, the United States will have contributed 1 billion, or more than $3 per person.
