How much are you asking for your protein?

An ounce of meat or poultry has about 7 grams of protein per ounce.

-       Every dollar per pound the meat costs, the protein costs .9 of a cent per gram

An ounce of fish has a little less, about 6 grams per ounce.

Non-meat sources of protein are often less expensive, but not always!

A large egg has 6 grams of protein. At $2.19 per dozen, that’s 3 cents per gram.

Milk and yogurt have about 8 grams of protein per cup. At $2.60 per half gallon, that’s 4 cents per gram.

Cottage Cheese is a similar 4 cents per gram.

At $2 for a pound of tofu, a gram of protein costs about 5 cents.
