Getting Rid of Your Gas Guzzler

Congress has recently developed a program called Cash for Clunkers which aims at getting more gas guzzling cars off the road. The government set aside one billion dollars in order to persuade people looking at buying a new car to aim for something with better gas mileage. Up to 4,500 dollars can be given for trading in your old clunker. Unfortunately the number of people participating has drained the funding almost completely and many dealers have stopped offering the deal, however, Congress is currently trying to add another two billion dollars in funding. How it works is rather simple. All the buyer has to do is find a dealer running the program and they can choose any car they wish and the amount of the discount they receive is based on the vehicle they are trading in. Dealerships are capable of doing this because they will be reimbursed by the government.
