Steps to take as Covid rules are being relaxed and what steps are state's taking

We are now entering a stage where states and countries have begun to lessen the restriction on self-isolation allowing people to once again venture out into the world. This means we all can finally begin the first steps to go back work or to our favorite restaurants and stores once again and begin to adjust back into our normal lives. This will be not a quick process and do expect a slow adjustment and delays as many people are still scared of getting the virus and there are new guidelines to how some businesses must operate. Here are some of the steps we can take to hold off another spread of the virus and how we can continue to prevent it. Remember we are our own self regulators and control our own actions so only you can take these steps to create a healthier environment.

  • ·         Check the CDC Website for any and all updated information on the virus here.
  • ·         Check with your local government and state with any new updates on what opening.
  • ·         If you are at high risk such as those who are 65 or older, have immune system problems, heart disease, etc., please still refrain from going out at this time and continue to practice self-quarantine.
  • ·         Wear a face cover in public.
  • ·         Continue physical-distancing by staying at least 6 feet or 2 meters away from others          whenever in public.
  • ·         Avoid touching surfaces, your mask and your face.
  • ·         Wash your hands whenever you get the chance.
  • ·         Think before you leave somewhere is it necessary.

Many states are in a 2nd stage process or the allowing businesses to reopen but with heavy restrictions such as hair salons or barber shops to operate but under a by appointment measure so as to not crowded the small lobbies or give the workers time to clean and prep in between customers as reported by an NPR news post here on which states are reopening or beginning to work through their planned stages. ABC News also posted this article detailing each state's steps and stages as of the end of May. Oregon it self is currently at phase one with a“Stay at home” order given by Gov. Kate Brown with no known end date as the figures below depict. However many counties have been given permission to relax some restriction such as restaurants or bars being allowed to open with physical distancing restrictions as well as retail stores being allowed to fully reopen.

If we continue to practice safe measures as we have been for the last two months, it will not be long before we reach a level of normalcy in our society once again. This will allow us to recover and begin prepping for the after effects of having had our society shut down for such a length in time that even now as we come to the end, we still fully do not grasp what these effects will be. Some fear another depression like that the great dust bowl in the 1930s except this time, but what we do know is what to expect and how to fight on and improve our lives.
