We Can Make a Change

At this point in society, I feel we are at a point where we are capable of the most change. We are so advanced in technology and we have the resources of the internet to make changes world wide. Something that I believe is important for the entire world and even at an individual level, is awareness. Awareness of your place in society, awareness of what you can do to help, awareness of what’s happening around you.

This mindset of awareness can be applied with voting. Voting is a privilege to fight for what you believe is right. There are people in the world that believe their vote won’t make a big change. That their opinion won’t affect the rest of the world, because they feel helpless. Having the mindset that your vote won’t affect the outcome is exactly what affects the outcome. When one person decides not to vote, that is similar to voting for something you don’t agree with.

One single person can’t change a world issue by themselves, they need the help of every other person in the nation to be on their side and do the steps that they are in control of. While you alone may not be able to reverse climate change, or end homelessness, you can vote for the people who are in a leadership position where they can make significant changes. It’s all about being aware of your place in the world. Understanding what you can do. Voting is a right that we as Americans have the ability to do. We get the opportunity to vote for what we want and feel is right, so why would we waste that privilege of choice. As millennials we are the ones living our future so we should get to decide what it looks like, by voting for causes that are true and good and voting against those that aren’t.
