RLSH Providing Food & Services for the Homeless

When one thinks of superheroes, most likely ones mind travels to DC/Marvel characters or perhaps to every day heroes such as firefighters and police. What probably doesn’t come to mind right away are the people that take the SuperHero concept and apply it to the real world: Real Life Super Heroes (RLSH)—sometimes this is used as a separate identity thats main purpose is to aid the homeless and people that are in sever financial need.
The first time that this came to my attention was when HBO covered this in their documentary SuperHeroes. This documentary covers a colorful cast of humans that does their best to help the needy and homeless. “Zetaman” and “Apocalypse Meow” from Portland Oregon use their SuperHero Identities to supply toiletries and food to the homeless. While the costumes are not necessary  to help the homeless, one can’t argue that this is a bad thing today because they’re doing something for the self that gives them the desire to help others.

I like to think that it’s human nature to want to reach out and help those in need. Austin Perine, a.k.a. President Austin (SuperHero name), decided at the age of four to become a SuperHero and feed the homeless. Once a week he turns into President Austin and hits the streets and does his best job too feed the homeless that he encounters.

You don’t have to become a SuperHero to feed the homeless and Austin proves that there’s not an age limit when it comes to offering help. Nonetheless, becoming a Real Life Super Hero to feed the homeless is a noble task for anyone to try and achieve.
